Slack Space New Site 13 Artists Opening Exhibition

This month I was lucky to be included in the 1st Exhibition at Slack Space's new venue. This had involved a huge amount of work done by Slack Space Volunteers and Members. Taking a former Police Station, lately Night Club and clearing all the debris to make a super art space.

These were my items on exhibit.

 They were weird and wonderful.

 And collected all manner of things.

 Reaching Out For You. A box assemblage based on the Lost Sheep parable.

 Lots of light and places to socialise.

 Our wonderful Paula, one of the driving forces behind Slack Space and a fellow exhibitor.

And on the way back to the car I found a fab London Route Master Bus has now found a place at The Waiting Room another arty hangout in Colchester.

Alchemy 3 Exhibition at Colchester Slack Space

Wednesday evening I went to the Private View of this diverse exhibition. I wasn't feeling too good as I have had some mystery bug all week. So it was a very quick visit and then back to a temperature and bed. Thankfully today I am better!

These dinosaurs are made from small household electrical appliances, mobiles, computers and other similar throw away goods.

Do you see anything you once owned? Lots of TV remotes on this one.

They are great fun.

I really like the way my art has been displayed. This white box is so effective.

Really lucky to get so much into one exhibition.

Also ongoing at Slack Space is the decoration of these giraffes. They are to be displayed at Colchester Zoo to celebrate 50 years of being open. A very patient artist is painting purple circles. He then has to paint white circles on the top half. I think he will be a bit dotty by the end.

Free Victorian Advertisements

Well it's cold, snow and all frozen up and the car is in the garage, since Monday. So slipping and sliding walking about and fingers were blue when I got back from my walk this morning. Molly was cold too as she shot indoors and curled up in her bed with her thick winter coat still on.

As I may have mentioned before I have a lot of Victorian Newspapers. All out of copyright too. So I thought I'd put up some images for you. Please copy and use as you like. They are adverts, scanned at 300dpi greyscale, not fiddled with them at all. You should be able to capture the images with a sniping tool and then print or alter them as you like. Hint at the bottom........................

............................ if you want to make vintage images look more authentic, then you need to print on vintage paper! Yes but where do you find that then? Well I use the blank pages from redundant vintage books, found at the front and sometimes the back too. Or you could use the blank pages that you find within vintage sheet music. Also at the end of chapters in books there is sometimes a 1/2 page blank. With careful positioning of your image that paper can be used too.

You will need to reduce the size of sheet music as its larger than A4. Also you need to measure the size of your pages and tell the printer this measurement. That will be somewhere in your Printer Properties menu, I know where that is for my printer but so many out there you'll have to read the booklet on How To.

Every item came from a different source, S Z Sakall was a Hungarian character actor 1940's - 1950's.I've used Clear Tar Gel to make a mock glass in the watch face. Why I collect this junk I don't know and where my head lives sometimes, well I really don't know either. But it's art and I had fun!!!
